Maroor’s in association with Grundfos organised an exclusive seminar on “Empowering Smart Industry with iSOLUTIONS” at Hotel Deepa Comforts on 17th April 2026. The seminar was attended by more than 65 industry heads from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts from various sectors such as food & beverages, O.E.M., Pharma & Chemicals, Textiles, Petrochemicals and other General Industries.
Ashwin Pai Maroor, Partner Maroor Group of Companies, welcomed the gathering and gave a brief introduction of Maroor Group of Companies and their proud association with Grundfos India for more than a decade. He then introduced the Grundfos team, Mr. James Antony Sylvester Swaminathan – Regional Sales Manager for South India, Mr. Thejaswi Bhat – Area Sales Manager for Mangalore, Mysore & Bangalore & Mr. Balajee Subramani – Service Engineer for Karnataka. From Maroor’s Mr. Kishan Rai – Sales Engineer and Mr. Arvin – Service Technician were present.
Mr James presented a detailed overview of Grundfos’ global presence. Grundfos is one of the world’s largest pump and water solutions companies. Established in 1945, it employs 20,818 people worldwide and produces over 15 million units annually. Grundfos India commenced operations in 1998 and employs more than 540 people across the country. It has two manufacturing facilities and eight sales offices in India. Mr James also highlighted Grundfos’ sustainability targets. The company is the first to have a validated Science Based Net Zero Target and aims to become a Net Zero GHC emissions company by 2050.
Mr Thejaswi presented a detailed overview of the scope for energy optimisation in the industrial sector for a sustainable pumping solution. He outlined the features of Grundfos iSOLUTIONS pumps, which are highly efficient pumps with IE5 motors. These motors offer a 10% greater energy savings and a 25% reduction in payback time compared to IE3 motors. Mr Thejaswi then discussed various industrial applications where these high-efficiency pumps can be utilised. Grundfos provides a comprehensive solution for Industry 4.0, including sensor technology, data collection, digitisation, intelligent connectivity and monitoring systems. Key applications for Grundfos pumps include HVAC, pressure boosting, boiler feed, wash and clean, machine tool, water treatment and distribution. He also spoke about Grundfos Smart Digital Dosing pumps and their application in various industries.
Mr Balajee discussed the impact of pumps on global energy consumption. He highlighted that 10% of global energy is consumed by pumps and 9 out 10 pumps are running full speed even when there is no need. He then detailed Grundfos service offerings including energy checks and pump audits. He explained the process of a pump audit and shared a case study from a food and beverage industry where a detailed audit report was submitted. Based on the audit report the company replaced old and inefficient pumps with Grundfos pumps achieving approximately 3.5 lakh kWh of annual energy savings a reduction of 245 tonnes of CO2 per annum cost savings of Rs 24 lakhs per annum and a payback period of eight months. He then spoke about IE5 motors with inbuilt VFD and their application in boiler feed and cooling tower systems to reduce energy consumption. Finally, he introduced the newly launched CUE120 Grundfos frequency converter for speed controlling a wide range of pumps in most applications.
Mr Manoj Srivastava, Plant Head at Patanjali Foods Limited, Mangalore, was requested to share his feedback on a recent pump audit conducted by Maroor and Grundfos. The audit was carried out at the boiler feed plant, RO plant and cooling tower plant and a detailed report was submitted. The report led to the replacement of old pumps with new high-efficiency Grundfos pumps. As a result of the changes recommended in the report, significant reductions in energy consumption were achieved.The seminar concluded with a Q&A session and an online quiz. The top three winners were recognised and prizes were awarded. This was followed by live demonstrations of pumps and a networking dinner.
